With the new year comes many new changes and challenges that we must face in the HVAC industry.
One of the greatest changes we will be facing is the new energy efficiency standards for residential split-system A/C equipment.
The HVAC industry is now transitioning from “SEER” to “SEER2” in the Southeast Region of the United States starting January 1 of 2023. With these new requirements, split system units that do not meet the new "M1" requirements cannot be installed after Jan 1, 2023.
With air conditioning playing such a vital role in our lives in South Florida it is important that we always stay up to date on the latest news and information in order to provide the best information to our clients and customers. We’ve included a image below depicting how the new SEER2 ratings will compare with the old SEER rating. All old SEER ratings will no longer be approved, nor will they pass city inspections for split system A/C systems if installed after Jan 1, 2022 in the state of Florida.
